Education for Liberation Summer Camp

AAU’s Education for Liberation Summer Camp is a 4-week program designed for students entering the 1st-8th grade. Campers are taught by high school youth teachers, who are mentored by AAU staff and college leaders. Campers explore a multicultural curriculum that includes STEM experiments, arts projects, community action learning, and time in AAU’s Inch-by-Inch garden, along with visits to Chinatown and nearby parks. A strong focus on literacy—through daily read-alouds and independent reading—helps students maintain and build their skills over the summer. The program concludes with a celebration day where families can visit classrooms, view student work, and enjoy class performances.
